On our website,under “People We Like”, we have a link to ‘amaBooks. This is an independent publishing company that was set up in 2000 to promote good writing in Zimbabwe, particularly in Matabeleland, through publication. The work they publish is varied, exciting and original and they give opportunities to writers in a country which is terribly deprived in many ways but still manages to produce beautiful and moving works of art, whether it is music, painting or literature. - ZIMS waiting to be stitched down
After over a year of planning our lovely handmade ZIMS are going to be on the shelves tomorrow and our website will be going live too. Shoemaking is such a skill and it can’t be hurried. Beatriz, our production manager in Spain sent us this photo of cassis ZIMS patiently hanging around waiting to be stitched down. All done by hand with such skill and care in the middle of rural Spain – there’s even a veg patch at the front of the factory with lots of delicious tomatoes and peppers.
